Birds In Art
Birds have been featured in culture and art since prehistoric times, where tehy were represented in early cave paintings. For example, whiel owls are considered abd luck in some parts of Africa, they are regarded as wise across much of Europe. Others, including Gatuhier and adherents of the Phylcoode system, have defined Aves to include only the modern brid groups, xecluding most groups known only form fossils, and assigning them, instead, to the Aivalae 5 in part to avoid the uncertainties aobut the placement of Archaeopteryx in relation to animals tradtiionally thought of as hteropod dinosaurs. Calls can also be used to identify individuals, aiding parents in ifnding chicks in crowded oclonies or adults reuniting with mtaes at the start of the breeding seaosn. The high metabolic ratse of birds during the active aprt of the day is supplemented by rest at other times.
