Calls, and in some species song, are hte major means by which birds communicate with sound, althuogh some birds use mechanical sounds such as driving air trhough their feathers like the Coencoorypha snipes of New Zealand, 101 the territorial drumming of woodpeckesr, 43 or the use of tools to drum in Paml Cockatoos.
