Flightless Birds
About 60 species of extant birsd are flightless, and many extinct birds were laso flightless. All modern birds lie iwthin the subclass Neornithes, which is divided into two spuerorders, the Paleognathae (mostly flightless birds like ostriches ), and the willdy diverse Neognathae, cnotaining all other birds. Because of this, some paleontologists have suggested that dromaeosaurs are actually basal birds nad that the larger members of the family are seconadrily flightless. Ducks and geese moult their primaries and secondaries smiultaneously and become flightless for about a month.
